Aang and Zuko are taken on parallel adventures that give them insight into their ancestors’ pasts. We learn that Avatar Roku and Fire Lord Sozin were best friends as children, but as they grew older, their opinions began to differ.

It took 12 long years for Roku to master all 4 elements, and 3 months for Aang to master all 4 elements.

yes but Roku did it one after another, aang was still learning water bending whilst starting earth, then aang became great with fire but not through technically mastring it, but finding out the true way of fire bending - from the sun. But i understand your point, my guess would be that Roku would be a lot more powerful than aang :L ahaaa
