Avatar: The Last Airbender Episode Guide

Katara eventually defeats Azula by trapping her in ice and heals Zuko, driving Azula into insanity. Sokka, Toph and Suki destroy the airship fleet. Aang defeats Ozai after going into the Avatar State and removes his bending abilities. Afterwards, Zuko is crowned Fire Lord. At the end, in Ba Sing Se, Aang and Katara kiss, ending the series.

Well, I can’t tell you for sure, but I know from an interview I read that part of the original script inclued a scene where Zuko found his mother. I don’t know why they cut it out, but it’s the ending I prefer to believe.

I think they will make a full length avatar movie continuing the story and wrap up the loose ends. Like Zuko’s mom and of course you know Izula will somehow escape and take her revenge. They have to make a movie, that’s what all great animes do, it will be huge.
Not to mention there is already a live action movie in the works directed by M. night Shamalan.

Thank you so much for uploading these. At first I was a bit skeptical because I thought it was more of a kids cartoon. Regardless if it was made for that, this was the best cartoon I have ever seen, and the end just leaves me sad. My favorite is Aang, real fun and peaceful little guy. It really inspired me; alot. Now I’m left with just wanting more.
Makes me wish that fantasy world they live in was infact the real world. =] Great show for kids and adults alike.

At first I thought that Avatar would be another boring kids cartoon, but in reality it is the most moving, touching, well concepted, well written, action defining, really funny, and you completely wish that it was true! Just saw the movie trailer of Avatar- The last air bender due to release on july next year. It is really cool. The kid playing aang, well i just got a short glimpse of him but looked pretty good. The martial arts and special effects what ever i could see in the 1 and half minute trailer was really really cool. You guys gotta check it out. I’m so glad that they’re making a movie out of it and that too its a mega movie. It all sounds so cool. Can’t wait for the summer next year. Oh! and in my last post i mistyped zuki for Azula. Aang has to be my least favorite character. He gets out of everything; he doesn’t have to kill Ozai, and he’s always right. He goes through no character development except mastering the elements (if you even want to count that). Zuko’s the real hero.

D’aawwwwww. That was a good ending. I want there to be more, but hey. At least it didn’t end like Inuyasha….a wild goose chase or half resolved. (Except for Zuko’s mother. But then, every good show has something like that, huh?) I don’t mean to offend with that comment, but it’s the fact of the matter.
I actually almost cried at the end of this. Zuko’s such a good kid. *dopey smile* I adore him. It is official. Yeah, sure, he’s a little corny, but he’s a cartoon character. He’s allowed to be corny. (Can’t be any worse than the traditional ‘I won’t forgive you’ in almost any anime…..)

Zuko and Katara can’t be together, that would ruin everything. Just prove that nice guys always finish last. But it does bring up the question in Aang and Katara do end up together, then are their kids going to be airbenders or waterbenders? I like the thought of the Lionturtle making new airbenders. Or maybe since Aang was able to take away the Fire Lords bending could he give airbending to someone else? Let Sokka and his girl get to be airbenders. They do need another book.

Well since it’s Avatar the LAST Airbender, I suppose that he’d be the last one. Maybe when the Avatar cycle comes around again to Air the cycle would break and the Avatar would be gone.
If this movie is as bad as the Dragonball Evolutions live action movie (and it’s shaping up to be like it, bad casting calls already…), then that’s the last straw, we can’t ever have another live action movie based off an animation. It doesn’t work.

here is a suggestion: ^_^
the four nations would have been curious about the past, thus, covering the mystery of the fifth kingdom… this kingdom would be the strongest empire of them all…. because of their selfishness, they would declare a war… to win that war the unity of the four nations should be observed but the problem is the air nomads doesn’t exist anymore… searches were made while the battle of the fire nation, water tribe and the earth kingdom against the fifth kingdom was going on… later, aang discovered that the only way is to reincarnate the air nomads… to do that, he has to make a great sacrifice– to have a journey in the spirit world and there solve the mystery on how to reincarnate– to have a deal with the spirit of time…. in doing that, his spirit and courage must be strong and unbend-able or else his presence in the world and its history will vanish….
haha… thats just an imagination anyway…^_^

Wow, I REALLY pity azula. I know that probably sounds weird, but it was really her dad’s fault. He made her feel special when she was young, and as she grew older, taught her that power was the best thing you could have.

when ozai slams him into the sharp rock that just makes him mad ! it didnt open him sevent charka, what opened the charka up was the lion turtle just a few episodes before, he opens the charka by outting both his index finger and his thumb on his heart and his chest, the reasoning behind this is is that he still ends up with katara and the seventh charka was he had to let go of all things attaching him to this world so the lion turtle just forced it open !

K guys, wondering if the next baby would be a air bender will it won’t be because remember back in the series when Aang had to learn about mastering water, earth than fire.
meaning:
Air, Water, Earth, Fire like the series said it goes in a certain order so when air bender die, will be reincarnated into a water bender and so forth so the next avatar would be a water bender.
As for a teacher in air bending im guessing that is why they didn’t make a 4 season because all of the air bending master are dead.
But there is a possibility that Aang will be able to transfer the powers in another person that understand air bending like the guy who is crippled and his father is the inventor.
Any who Avatar was a great series and it ended greatly.

Until now i watched huuuge animes such as Naruto,One Piece,Bleach.
Then i found out about Avatar.. i read it was in nickelodeon??
No offence but their cartoons are so childish and bad.
BUT!!!! Avatar is like the BEST anime eveeeeer!!And i LOVED IT!!!
I would go home after a long tiring day..and i would watch Avatar and get lost in that beautiful magical world.
And im soooo disappointed that such a great anime has only that few episodes…when they can come up with millions of ideas to continue it!!
I mean,animes in general dont have only one bad guy right? so just because he defeated the firelord doesnt mean it has to end!!!

I think Ian’s idea very cool, the 5th tribe should be spacebenders or benders that can bend 2 element rather than one or a whole tribe of benders that can bend all 4 elements(like avatars but weaker) or plastic benders(if there is plastic in their time) or a whole tribe of spirit thingys that escaped the spirit world that can also bend or benders that can fuse their elements to there weapons or dragons, molebadgers, skybison and what ever creature waterbending originate that are controlled by an evil Avatar-like person. the list is endless. i think me!’s idea can be also put into Ian’s story where Aang is in the spirit world to try and reincarnate the airbenders while Katara and the others are trying to free the other airbenders from the 5th kingdom

I ‘ve always thought i’d be cool if the series goes farther into the future, but with the same people, Like aang finds a way to do the re-birth, or whatever..of the airbenders, as said. and, it’d be cool if he could find a way to see who the future avatar would be, like roku went back into the past<3.. See if Aang and Katara have kids, or somthing. What great accomplishments zuko has, and his mother comes back.. Awh, so much.. oh, and toph, if she ever goes back to her parents, and if she’s grounded for like, life, LOL. Toph’s my fav character. don’t get me wrong<3

the three books have been so epic, so awesome, so fun, so funny, so exciting, so thrilling, so moving!!
this is the greatest animated series ever created!!!
this episode was amazing:
1) the moment with sokka and toph hanging on the airship, sokka’s final attempts to fight back, absolutely emotional!
2) azula’s breakdown, so raw and painful!!
3) katara’s water tactic, brilliant!!
4) zuku’s life saving lightening diversion, LOVE haha
5) aang’s avatar state speaking out against ozai, crazy!
6) previous episode but toph’s knocking on the metal door and KAPOW she owns everyone! love her!
7) zuku and aang’s hug and standing together to face the new world = BEST ENDING EVER.

omg, i have sooo many idea’s for season 4!!!!! zuko goes on a quest to find his mom and katara goes with him, they eventually fall in love which creates this big problem between aang and zuko and katara and mai. mai gets really mad and frees azula from prison then they start a new plan to take over the world. zuko and katara get married and aang gets mad and dissapers.soon zuko and katara have a son. when their son is 15 azula begins her attack and he starts to search for aang to help him defeat azula. while he’s traveling he discovers he has a really cool power(because of the elemental mix of his parents). he also meets the children on sokka and his wife and of toph and who ever she ended up marrying. when they all finally find aang they have to work hard to get himm to help because aang is jelouse of zuko and hates his son. thats all i got so far. please comment!!!!!

I read so many messages in other forums saying that aang couldnt defeat fire lord without avatar state… but that is not true.. aang could finish him when redirecting lightening but he spared his life .. when directing lightening to another point he lost his stance and power so the fight turned out in fire lords advance.. but in the end aang finished him as aang not as avatar..
aang proved to be very strong even not in avatar state . if you watch carefully the end part you will see that he lifted up entire see to end the fire and then lifted the whole ground to take the ships on land preventing any one to get drowned.. that is pretty much hard for any waterbender master or earthbender master…

Is the avatar the only one capable of learning more than one elemental bending? Surely someone in the past has tried.
I think that if Aang can’t teach other people air bending THEN … if the air nomads aren’t celebate and only like recruit people then aang should be able to teach other people or if they aren’t supposed to be celebate then i think that they will have had children with some people outside of their own nation like the Earth Kingdom so there will be some decendents in each of the nations who have some Air Nomad heritage and they could learn air bending from like a scroll or something like the waterbending scroll Katara finds.
OR theres a group of air nomads who split from the others and no one found yet like the Sun Warriors.
I feel sorry for Appa whose the last of his kind unless there are some hidden away so the Sky Bison will die out after Appa.

why did they end the series, it was the best thing ever.
i have thousand of ideas like what would happen if zuko is tired of aangs power and turns on him, then murders him in his sleep but really aang survived and another 100 years of war rages on but aang dies fighting zuko in the final battle. but a few years later aangs and kataras kid becomes the new avatar and eventually makes peace with zuko as aang did with the old firelord. i hope nick’s writers get this:D

Zukos face when mai tells him never to break up with him again! EPIC!
I don’t think there should be any changes to the boyfriend, girlfriend thing… It would kind of stuff the whole thing up.
An idea maybe, for the fourth book….. Ang goes missing for 2 years and everyone wonders where he has gone. When they next see him he says that he from another country that no one knows of a great mass of warriors are coming to destroy all three of the remaining nations. So they start to visit every leader (Earth, Fire and Water) Some time near the end they are talking about the missing dead air nomads and one of them is wondering if one of the four air temples bender population had escaped. Aang goes silent and the conversation changes, then he randomly says, “what do you mean four air temples….. there were five?” (or something like that) The others don’t believe him and he goes of alone to find the Circle Air Temple, Which is long forgotten and finds a population of air nomads who have forsaken the old ways so they can stay hidden. When the battle agaist the other place begins Aang is still gone and they are worried but then he comes in with a large group of air nomads….. Some other stuff happens and they win and blah blah blah…..
I know that was weird but yeah, I had to put it out there.

Have to say, was the best episode yet.
I am let down though a few things:
When the aang was in the avatar state, and surrounded himself with the elements, that was cool. But not for that whole time, it would have been better if maybe he turned into something (just refering to book 1 at the end, the water spirit thingy) or just threw like blasts of the elements at ozai, or even like a “element octopus” like with waterbending.
And then when he did the energy bending, the light coming out of his eyes and mouth just overdid it, it would have been better if maybe his arrow and eyes glowed.. green? like the lion turtle thing .. it was cool i guess, but i just saw a massive screen of colour, during an incredibly epic moment in the episode.
Just my thoughts. Go team Avatar!

dude i loved this ending! it heart-breaking, loving, and most other emotions shoved into one little episode. i beleive that brian kinitsko(sorry i’m bad at spelling names) and michael dimartino are amazing writers. i’m sooooo glad that thry are assisting in writing the newest avatar movie. i am sooooooooooooooooo looking forward to it. me and my bro are buying tickets as soon as hegets back from college. which should be pretty soon. Uh, no, no, no. They HAVE to make one last season for this. Book Four: Air. They HAVE to T_T, Well, actually I’ve been wondering about this. If Aang dies, what’ll happen to the airbenders? The world would just get thrown out of balance again. They HAVE to make one last season.

Zuko,on his throne, gets surprised when he notices that his mother is behind him. He shoots his mom with fireballs and Kills her. He regrets it and kills himself. Avatar Aang is called upon by the personal advisor of zuko to become part of the fire nation and take Zuko’s throne. Aang agrees but under the condition that he will be able to still roam freely. Katara and Sokka form a new generation of freedom fighters. All for one goal…to defeat the secret Dai li who are reborn by azula( she admits that she was going crazy when she banish them). Toph later on joins the freedom fighters.

BEST CARTOON EVER! It’s sad to know that Aang is the only airbender left. He seems sad at the end. There should be a book 4 where Aang finds an airbender that is secretly hiding as a normal villager. Then Firelord Ozai gets his powers back again and the only way to kill him is to learn a new technique which only the found airbender can do. Someshit like that. Work with me guys

Even though Azula is a psycho, I felt bad for her when she was going crazy. Like when she started crying I felt bad for her. I mean her mother thought she was a monster, father treating her like Zuko now, her friends left her. That would be pretty bad if everything that she worked for fell. Anywho who cares? Zuko = HOT! I love Zuko. Although instead of having his hair up in the silly pony tail thing, he should make a rule that all people of the fire nation have their hair out. Zuko looks much better with hair out. Katara looks better with her hair up in the loopy pony plait thing. I so sad that Avatar is over

I wanted to see more to the spirit who stole faces and i also wanted to see Zuko find his mother. I also hoped in the end you would see Izula in a prison calling for revenge. I hope there will be more to Avatar where Izula somehow makes an agreement with the spirits and will throw Zuko off the throne or make him look as the culprit (i think the series was at its best when you saw Zuko running around where he both took good and bad decisions, so when he became totaly good he became a little boring). And only about 1-3 years should have passed imo. I would hate to see their kids involved so it became all familyboring humor/action. I agree with some other comments: Toph should also find a boyfriend

C’mon don’t be stupid guys…
Sure you would all want more episodes, but why? It’s over, Aang completed his destiny. If they made a plot where Azula escaped and wreaked havoc, that would be fucking stupid.
All good things must come to an end, and you need to learn when to let things go. This ended perfectly and doesn’t need any more refining. Be glad the show didn’t get dull and boring, cause that’s what happens to most series who drag on too much.

If I would have one milion I would give it to Avatar creators and say them to create more of Avatar! Like season 4: Air. Story could be that Azula escapes and there’s more bad people for Avatar to kick they asses! And there is really loads of questions which aren’t answered, like: What happened to Zuko mother? OK people this is pathetic first of all like any good series it will always leave wanting more the only way you’d be satisfied if a series bombed (like the upcoming movie) and then you’re mad at the directors for ruining a great film their between a rock and a hard place its best they end it now and not waste anymore cash giving some time you will get over it just be grateful it didn’t end in a cliff hangar hell be grateful it was finished now mentioning zukos mother and then not going anywhere with it was suspicious but like it was said in the interview the part where zuco finds his mother was taken out maybe that’s what it was building for but if they are planning another series here is some stuff i wouldn’t want to see first of all its called THE LAST AIR BENDER going against that and miraculously finding some air benders is just wrong now i have nothing against resurrecting the nomads. 2nd of all finding a conflict that reacquires the heroes and the enemy’s to unite to solve it is good a plot don’t get me wrong but its been done way to many times how about keeping it fresh a bit and i also don’t want to see another 100 year war repeating the same thing in another way just keep the fans happy is not my idea of a good series. 3rd of all where does this idea of “zaatang come from they have never shown any love interest in each other not a real one at least and taking a lighting bolt for someone doesn’t necessarily mean love beside we known it couldn’t be shown any clearer that katara is in love with aang speaking of which remember that aang is 113(give or take) and katara is 15 do the math aang is 7 times older then katara if anything he is to old for her and last but not least of all its just a cartoon and cartoons end no reason to make it such a big deal

Well in episode 16 of book 3 we find out the mother of Sokka and Katara said she was the last southern water bender. Maybe you guys noticed that the last Southern water bender was a freaky old witch who forced Katara to learn “blood bending”? If that’s true poor Sokka/Katara, their mum turned into a freak.
As for Zukos mother, hate to say something horrible (and I cant remember the episode) but the night his mum left, Zuko was to be put to death as punishment to Ozin via the previous fire lord. the mum stopped it and disappeared saying “everything i do is for you”.
So i think she died to protect him, not a very happy thing to add to a happy ending so they probably cut it out.

Zuko’s story is another anime, you can find it in a book story its his story in the manga to show what he went through and what happens from his eyes (for the people asking about his mother)
this anime was well wortalmost 3days of my life lol, and it end with the good guy doing the right thing and still getting the girl and NOT dying (most anime main guy/girl dies) i would deffently re-watch this and plan on it after i have went out and payed for them lol

Thanks for the great site and an incredible show.
However just giving people my opinion of apparent ‘loose ends’. Aang’s children will be airbenders thus continuing the chain, it’s not like he can only have one child, probably some will be waterbenders as well. And it was pretty obvious to me Zuko’s mum sacrificed herself to protect him, this is a show aimed at kids after all and I think they haven’t shown any of the characters dying on screen, so they just heavily imply it instead of hitting you with the blunt truth. Sorry guys but there’s no such thing as a perfect ending.

Good ending, I think. I found Aang’s defeat of the fire lord tasteful, a clever way to humiliate him for the rest of his life, and a sufficient punishment.
But I can’t believe that Katara actually kisses Aang. It looked forced and of course was a cheesy way to end the thing. Aang is too young and too pure for her… at this point anyways. I mean, Katara’s done blood bending. What could defile a person more than that?
Zuko has had his fair share of cruelty/badness. I totally thought they would be together, especially after Zuko saves Katara’s life. Mai is just boring and annoying. She and Zuko don’t make sense together; they just sat around hating the world when they were going out before. Zuko should have been too confused about his purpose in life at that time to have a girlfriend (and actually care about her).
I think it should have ended with them doing all they could to rebuild the world. It would have been better than that stupid kiss.
What will happen in four generations when the next avatar is to be reborn? Will the air nomads just be skipped because there are no more, and a water avatar take place instead? Or will Aang have enough descendants by then to reform the air benders? It would be cool if they made a ‘Book 4: Air’ about Aang’s great grandchildren

honestly i found the finally to be lacking, yes there were cool action scenes, but the emotional stuff (unlike the rest of the series brilliance) made no sense. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really a zatarra person, and I enjoyed seeing aan and katara kiss, but the entire book of fire they were driving the series toward zattara, and it could have worked perfect. Also no closure with zukkos mother or even azulas final fate. the whole deus ex machina wasn’t even necessary to the story, and I normally don’t mind deus ex machinas, but aang could have defeated him without the lion turtle, and to me lobotomizing the guy (OK not quite lobotomizing him) and then tossing him in prison isn’t THAT merciful and at the same time TO merciful. Honestly even with the amazing individual stories in the book of fire the overall story suffered (at least after the failed invasion).
I still wish toph got a full blown zuko field trip.
And Azula really is Bat-@$% crazy isn’t she/

Also, energy bending is extreamly dangerous. You can’t just make benders without giving them a peice of your soul; eg, when Ozai was stripped of his powers, Aang grew stronger.
Giving Airbending to one person, let alone two, might even break the ability for an Avatar to ever use Airbending again(Though he wouldn’t be able to anyway, due to the lack of Airbenders left, thus resulting in Airbending having to be learnt, due to the fact it would not have to be balanced as it no longer exists).

to all you awesome avatar fans out their,
not that we are at the conclusion of the so beloved anime series I hope you can bear with me in explaining to you my opinion on the matter of the show. First I would just like to say this show is absolutely fantastic. never have i felt so much emotion in tale like this. it combines many genre’s like comedy, adventure, fantasy, action, drama, love, and most of all the story of life and destiny. it combines many cultures as well, from the Eskimo regions of Alaska to the scorching desserts of Egypt, from the fantastic land of mid-evil Europe to the amazing lands of ancient Asia, every culture is recognized rather you notice it or not. Avatar is a spectacular adventure that all ages would love. The writing is spectacular along with the voice overs. Their was not one part were the voices of the characters deflected the tone of the mood.
Now I epically discussed why I think Zutara is the right way
I did have a few problems though. i’m sure your all tired of hearing it, but hear me out. I do still think that in the end Zoku and Katara should have been together. You see when you look back in episodes like The Southern Raiders and even this Finally when Zoku’s chooses KATARA to go with him it seams evident in the scene they are together in that they are in love. Look how they fight together for insistence together allways fire and water, the opposite elements both of their skills in ways of furry to take down the enemy and morphing them into the ultimate force of fighting. Their combined fighting just seams so complete together, it really just shows their love and the effects of the bonding together. The fire and the water completely symbolizes their soles and how the solves must be combined in order for true life to work. Even when their fighting against each other epically in the crossroads of destiny you can see the similarities of their fighting style. It just seams as if it’s not meant to be, the same style the same soles meant to be with eachothers used to destroy one another, the style shows their soon bonding and the connection between them. You really don’t see this significant of their fighting with Aang and Katara and Zuko and Mai. Another thing that annoys as that the studio foreshadows the relationship so much. Like in the caves in ba sign sey…. they really start to understand each other. And also when June all like so I see you found your girl friend and their both like SHE NOT MY GIRL/BOYFRIEND. The last time he said that is back in the earth kingdom when he met that girl in the tea shop and he fell in love with her for a bit… Ironic much. Plus you don’t use that much heating denial unless its true its common philosophy. Another point to add is when Katara was pissed off at Zoku, that’s really Ironic. A person doesn’t break down like that because of trust as she claimed. It would be because of love, the strong love she felt in the cave reminded her of the love she felt for her mother, and therefore she connected it to Zoku being the one who had killed her mother. The face is she was in love, and she was guilty, only explanation.
I also feel that they understand each other more in a relationship. What is Aang to do if she cries out in the night about her the loss of her mother, hmmm? Vice versa Mai to Zoku. Aang has felt loss. He lost Appa once, and he lost all of his people…. but it wasn’t like the l Zoku or katara were they saw it happen, the death of the poeple who cared most about them…. murder of banish (we don’t no about zoku’s mom yet but i got i felling she’s dead
) Aang didn’t witness it Aang didn’t rely on that persons love alone like Zoku and Katara did Aang had the love of Many and his loss was more of surprise and self burdened…. He becomes angry at himself and blames himself alone for it, while Zoku and Katara angers is at the monster who did it and him alone. Aang couldn’t he could only tell monk values and old fables to cheer her up but would that really solve the deep problem that Katara faces. Same with Mai how is she to help Zoku with his troubles of the past when she can not relate to him alone and has no experience in the troubles that zoku has been through. The fact is both Katara and Zoku are disturbed people and they need each other to break the hardships of their pasts and to set out for what matters most, the future. Aang and Katara are a cute couple, same with Zoku and Mai but are the really a destined couple…. The fantastic writing makes the relationships look like they are destined for each other but i feel that is incorrect. Some fantastic lines have been made for the couples love for example, When Mai saves Zoku and says to Ozulia…. “you miscalculated, I love Zoku, more than I fear you”, this shows her love for him but think about it…. the line could be given from any female character and still represent, the amence amount of love for him and if Katara said it, it would have the same amount of Dramatic affect that it had when Mai said it. Same with dramatic moments between Aang and Katara they just seam incomplete, Aang too youthful and High spirited, he need someone more like him, someone high free and youthful like him. Katara has lost her youthfulness and filled it with the passion to look out for others. The love that she gives him is as a mother, not a lover, and him to her more as an older sister. It just doesn’t truly convince me that Aang and Katara are in love. The thing that Katara needs to learn is that, in the time that she has spent caring for others she hasn’t noticed that what she truly needs is someone to care for her. Aang is not that type of person, not the one to focus only on the needs of one alone to focus on the inside first but the outside, he cares for all that are in need but it seams that he can not stir the inside as much, he doesn’t have the experience that other have in the problems face, Aang in total, is not a fatherly figure. He duty is to be more of a god rather that father. Zoku however shows love to people in need of guidance. He has changed all of Aang, Sokka, and Katara threw his way of taming the beast inside all. He has helped them achieve what they need; he has given them wisdom and understood the task that each member must accomplish, and in the end informed them of the meanings, and given them the results that had changed each of them forever. Zoku clearly has Fatherly guidance that could help Katara and Katara has Motherly guidance that could help him, but this couldn’t be given to each other threw friendship… only threw love.
Not only the similarities that define them as destined love it’s their differences. Think about it, their story would practicality be the combination between to classic love stories, and powerful relationship both in ways of other literature and in its own way. The lady and the tramp, And Romeo and Juliet, two amazing love stories reincarnated in the love between Zoku and Katara. Think about, Zoku grew up in royal, like the Lady, Katara grew up in a poor tribe with that was continually being abused and raided by the fire nation….. She had nothing, a bit like the tramp. Both the lady and the tramp try to find love in each other although their differences in class are great, the likeliness in heart and inside are similar and that’s what makes their love together so great. Romeo and Juliet sneak itself in here to think about it. Two families who hate between each other is great, one of each falls in love and changes the Families hate forever. Two nations who are forsworn enemies, Fire and water two of each falls in love and in the changed world brings the hate of each to an end. And yes Fire and Water hate each other the most, why do you think the Fire nation raided the water tribe and took away all the benders?…. they didn’t do that to Earth or Air. Well the fire nation did do the same to air but that was just because of the search for Aang. Can’t you see now, its just repeated love threw literature, just a way of making great love between the two, bring more romance into this series, their are no perfect relationships like this one. I wish the studio could realize that they were just inches away for making adding amazing love to the long list of mixed genre’s.
I hope you all will realize why the love for Zoku is such a symbolic thing they should have added to the story, Farewell, and cheers I might post Idea’s for the 4th chapter. I’m thinking about making a blog for that and others. Farewell and Long live Avatar the last Air bender.

i think the movie did a horrible HORRIBLE job at depicting the series. omg!!! i was sooo disappointed in the movie! i took my boyfriend to see it and he knew nothing about the series, and the movie left him with so many unanswered questions. the movie had to plot, no development, no point….it made no sense….especially if you had no idea wat the series was about.
that’s why i had to rewatch the entire series on here…so cleanse my mind of the movie’s disasterous outcome.

i mean really, katara has HATED zuko since the beginning, at least until she finally forgave him in the southern raiders episode… if the creators wanted zutara in the first place, there would be alot of hints throughout the series of a realationship. Sure, the scene in the glowing cave with the two was major, but even then zuko betrayed her.
there were multiple hints of the romantic tension wit aang and katara thoughout the show from the cave of two lovers to the ember island players episode , it just wouldnt make sense if katara went with zuko leaving aang in the dust. oh AND FOR THE RECORD, its only a two year difference. the final kiss was a year after the first episode, so aang would be 13 and katara would be 15. aang’s love for katara went from a little crush to CHAKRA BLOCKING LOVE.
dont just think that just because zuko and katara just MIGHT make a cuter couple, it doesnt mean their in love.
besides, zuko seems happy with mai, and if u did not think that the final kiss between aang and katara was quite ADORABLE, you have no soul.
For me, it was a perfect ending for a perfect series.
IF WE JUST KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO ZUKOS MOM!

Hi every1! Im a huge avatar fan(Like, OBSESSED) and thanks so much to this site. im so glad everyone can give an opinion. i went onto other sites that u couldnt comment on, which is such a load. I spent an hour and a half reading all your comments(yes, even the super long ones) and this episode has by far the most comments!!!
Im team Kataang, but i also respect other peoples opinions. i’ve seen a lot of people fiercly defending what pairing they like best! well, think whatever you want, but i’d just like to say why ****KATAANG**** is best in my eyes.
Katara lost her mom when she was only 8, which left a deep emotional pain simaler to the one Aang felt after learning Gyatso was also killed by firebenders. Its different for Zuko, because his mother may still be alive. Zutara fans may think Katara is too old for Aang, but remember, Zuko is also two years older than Katara, the same age difference between her and Aang!, so its not a good agrument for them to make, is it? I hope you all like avatar as much as i do!!!

I think Zoku and Katara are a good couple because more or less it shows the formation of the new world and how all the nations are one…. seeing as the fact that the two rival nations have lovers for each side….. it would really be symbolic
if it was Zutara i think i would show opisites atract really well
But aang and katara are a good couple cause its been them together since the begging yaaaarrrrgg it shows Katara with both of them you don’t know what to think plus Zokia isn’t a very strong relationship either… but it does have its moments….. i wish they would plot around this more to make it more explainable

AMAZING! Just a wonderfully well told story that can justify reasons why I just love cartoons/ animes.
Personally, I think the story of Zuko and his mother has ended, for viewers anyways. Its implied that Zuko will get the truth, one way or another. And that is his personal journey which does not tie in with the whole story of the series. He’s found himself and now just has to built that extensions of himself.
Still, would be cool to see what happens, but I’d be glad if they ended it here. All great or not great stories have to have endings.
Anyways, not shipping anyone, but if the topic ever came up I support Aang and Katara. Not just because of the whole beginning thing but there’s understanding and respect in each other. Besides its not the usual fangirl obvious/ preferred pairings, which is unique. Reflects real life which isn’t always about being with the correct guy but the right guy.
Sides, I can understand the whole Zuko and Katara pairing and the obvious similarities that can play up these expectations. But there’s nothing there but respect and amicable understanding. Two people who have almost the same familial tragedies, not to mention Water being the element to cure/ tame Fire. That’s just obvious. I think its better that they are just friends, personally.
Anyways, yahay for Aang and Katara! I thought that kiss would never come! And 2 yrs younger isn’t a problem, trust

I can’t believe all you people don’t like Azula, she is deff one of my fav characters i know shes evil but i like how powerful she is and just amzing. But then again that is probs because i always seem to like the powerful and crazy girls in movies and series. for example bellatrix is one of my fav characters in harry potter and one of my favs in the twilight series is jane so maybe thats why. any way the fighting in this is epic and its a bit sad that azula went mad but it was destined to happen given her past. one of the best parts of avatar would have to be how funny it is it makes me laugh every episode mainly thanks to soka and toph
any way i love all the characters in this mainly every one in team avatar but also king bumi uncle iroh mai and ti lee momo upppa (if thats how you spell it) ect 
lastly is a shame that the series has come to an end but i can always rewatch it thanks to this great site oh and LOVE AVATAR 
and i agree i think they should make another season that raps up everything including the bit about zukos mother and just more stuff in gernerall and see all the relationships continue which im also very happy about

ahhh its so sad that the series has come to an end. i agree with every one though that there should be another season. i also think it should cover zukos mother and just more in generall like about the relation ships which by the way im very happy about and also the rebuilding the new world. i also can’t believe you dont like azula she was one of my favourite characters (although she is evil and she was going mad towards the end but what do you expect given her past) along with aang kitara soka toph zuko uncle iroh king bumi momo appa ti lee mai all the old people and the kioshi warriors. thank god for this website cause i can always rewatch as this is my second time and i will sure miss watching it but lucky there is a movie to keep it going although it will never be as good as this

ok for all of those people who were soo excited to see the movie, dont be. (this is my opinion) the movies was in no was related to the tv show. the movie gave all of the people who have never seen the series an idea that the show was bad, which it wasn’t. I wouldn’t even go to the movies for $1000 to see that movie again. I was soo terribly disappointed. Thanx dig avatar for putting these on the web so i could get that horrible movie out of my mind.

i also have another question???? if there are no more airbenders how is the avatar cycle going to continue without any more airbenders?? is aang going to create a knew form of airbenders. if you think about it, since all benders started out as energybenders, if aang taught a group of people airbending they could recreate the air nomads, but how long would that take. That is the question i am dying to get answered, cause that would lead to a whole other set of problems left unanswered, they should do a thing where they would answer all of the fans questions that would help.

Fantastic! Amazing plot, isn’t it? Everything is so thought throe. I love the way the characters are changing along the way, mostly Zuko, that is. Though Aang are the main character you always knew he would make it, so I found Zuko’s journey more interesting. You always felt he wasn’t one of the bad guys, but you never knew when he would come around, did you?
All and all, loved following the characters all the way.

Okay, it’s nice to see Katara and Aang kissing, but I seriously want to know what she thought of Aang the rest of the series. The only hint we have that she might think of him as more is when Sokka says he’s a ‘powerful bender’ which reminds her of the fortune teller’s prediction that she’ll marry a powerful bender. She still doesn’t sound thrilled at the idea. Anyway, it’s just not satisfying to me, since we don’t know WHY she was confused at the play (maybe she DID have a crush on Zuko, eh?), and I just feel bad for Aang until we can be sure her feelings are actually anywhere near as strong as his for her. (I also don’t think Mai’s worthy of Zuko… I like them okay, but they still seem kinda shallow.)
That and the lack of air nomads which causes complications for the avatar cycle are the two biggest weaknesses of this ending, I think. I can live with Zuko’s mom being a mystery, I can’t live with Katara’s opinion of Aang still being a mystery.
And no thirteen year old should be sucking face like that, lol.

An unsatisfying conclusion, blending the worst aspects of Children’s television and anime, and almost entirely devoid of the things that separated Avatar and made it worthwhile. This ain’t the way it should have been, but it’s the way it was. Good series overall; I give it a 7.75/10.

I’ve thought about it a bit, and I’ve come to the conclusion that whoever was overseeing the whole creative process, or perhaps someone lower down, realized that while the “for kids” thing had added an element of innocence, etc. that made the show what it was, the total lack of killin’ stuff was cramping their style. So they spent a substantial amount of time explaining why the killin’ was justified (Cliché all the way, but they did a good job) and then came up with the most half-assed endings in the history of endings and slapped it on, either as a protest or a place-filler or a knowing wink. I mean, come on, a Lion Turtle? Where the hell did that come from? All four disparate powers being unified into a greater, purer whole with lots and lots of flashy blue light? Wow, no one saw that coming. And Azula’s end was double-unsatisfying- It was so painfully obvious that Zuko should’ve killed her.

Guys, I just wanted to say somethin’. Not sure it’s been said yet, but I’ll give it a go anyway. There is gonna be a new series. It’s called Avatar: The Legend of Korra. It is NOT a 4th season it’s its very own spin-off, it is speculated to take place 100 years after the original series, and it supposedly revolves around the new avatar after Aang, a female water bender named Korra (obviously). Not much else is known, but Mike and Bryan are possibly gonna reveal more about it at Comic Con (which is only a few days awaaayyyy -squeals like a little girl-)
Go look it up on the Avatar wiki if you don’t believe me. Hell, I think they already have an article on wikipedia.
I’m a little sad that this means that most if not all of the old characters will be dead and gone (of course, Bumi is well over 100, and Avatar Kyoshi lived to be around 250 years old, so it seems extreme longevity isn’t unheard of in the series). Still though, I’m really excited, I’m sure the creators will not disappoint us. >w<
Also, to all the raving Zutara fangirls, yes, it’s a cute couple, but GET OVER IT. Katara and Aang are now a canon couple. the guys who made the series never intended for Zuko and Katara to hook up. If you’re that passionate about them being together, go write some fan-fiction. Unless Mike and Brian are held at gun point by some crazy fangirls, Zutara will NEVER happen.

i mean wt f, why not another director. Mr. Shamaladouche is a complete mess: what does he have on his belt, just The Sixth Sense then all his other movies are bunch of crap!
What a total waste of material! Avatar: The Last Airbender Series is awesome …but the live action movie sucked… *cries*
I demand a remake of the movie. Gosh nick productions, at least choose a freakin’ good director! *coughs* Christopher Nolan *coughs*

Amazing they really need to make another series!!!!!!!!! I love this show its the best cartoon ever. Katara should have been with zuko though they would have made a cuter couple and aang should be with toph they would be cute togethor. Zuko is sooo hot i love him… even though its a cartoon.

I watched all the other episodes but my favourite one is still The Ember Island Players- amazingly funny, anyone who hasn’t watched it has to!- okay, anyway, DON’T YOU GUYS THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER IF ZUKO WENT WITH KATARA? I MEAN, I EVEN APPRECIATE ZUKO AND MAY’S RELATIONSHIP MORE THAN AANG AND KATARA’S! Seriously, they should make a new season of avatar and have it as chapter air. Most excellent show I could watch it again and again
Im actually afraid to go and see the movie now, is it really that terrible? Because the tralier didn’t look to bad, infact I thought it looked rather exciting and true to the cartoon, but I have been told otherwise, but by people who arn’t as big a fan as I am to this series.
So could someone please tell me honestly what they thought, I trust you guys with Avatar related things LOL.
Anyways with regards to couples, I was not really bothered who went with who, though Im glad Aang got the girl in the end I guess
However, there is a fatal flaw in this ending which is, how will anyone learn airbending?
I suppose people could learn it from the Sky Bisons like they originally did, but Appa is the only one left.
I am sure someone has asked this question to the writers and producers of this show at comic con events, and I would really appriciate it if someone could post the answer to this question, or post a link that answers it
Apart from that Im pretty happy with it, and I always knew Aang would SOME HOW manage to re-open that last chukra (7th)

Nickelodeon made the official announcement on Avatar: The Legend of Korra today. : D So it’s 70 years after the original story, not 100, but all the other rumors were pretty accurate~ Set to release in 2011. Can’t wait. >w<

It’ll be hilarious seeing older Aang as a spirit mentor for Korra, lol.

I remember being so skeptic about avatar, after hearing it was an american anime (and you know how america butchers anime sometimes) but when I moved to the states and caught a few episodes on TV, I was hooked. I watched as many as I could that year but missed so much. (one of my favorite memories that year was the sozin’s comet special these eps. were directly recorded from~) but right after, I moved back to Tokyo-where they don’t show/havent even heard of avatar. So, after just last month when I visited the states and watched that *prettybad* movie-I am SO releived and happy that I could finally watch them all in one go. ;v;
Otherwise…this series is amazing. I watch a lot of american cartoons and a lot of anime-and I really think this series takes the best from both~ great animation like in american cartoons with mature storylines in anime. Especially the characters-ESPECIALLY zuko. Only this series could make one character have so many sides to him and make it work. Though I don’t feel that strongly about any pairings…I really didn’t think Zutara would be fitting (I mean, from episode ONE, aang liked katara and how could katara fall for zuko in only the last half of the last season!?) but I don’t really think zuko with mei was very good either. –; That couple just seems….too shallow. (I cant’ve been the only one that was on the verge of gagging on those earlier meiko couple scenes!-can you tell Im a zuko fangirl? XD;) The rest of the coupling was fine though
(I mean, aang MAY be younger than katara by a few years but seriously-when you grow older, a few years either way isn’t that big of a deal –; )
Leaving zuko asking where his mom was at the very end seemed really like a loose end o-o; I wonder why they cut that scene from the script…? And Im sure theres airbenders that hid away somewhere too (like hiding in an iceberg like aang-anything couldve happened) and of course, theres always aang+katara’s kids~ wouldve liked to see what happened to azula~
Hopefully they’ll answer some of these questions in the sequel series, the legend of korra~ It’s real funny that they announce the sequel series coming out in 2011 the day I finish watching this series~ Of course, you gotta feel nervous about a sequel-but if it’s with the same director/writers/etc. then it can’t be all that bad. Can’t wait to see how it ends up~

The everyone whos wondering, there IS going to be a second series for the avatar.
It may be called “Avatar: Legend of Korra” (working name).It is said to be released in 2011.
Avatar: Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender. Korra is the next Avatar after Aang, “a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl” who is hotheaded, independent and “ready to take on the world”. Korra comes from the Southern Water Tribe, and Aang and Katara’s son Tenzin is her Airbending teacher.
One of the story’s settings is Republic City, a “metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology,” “inhabited by people from all nations.” Here Korra must deal with rampant crime and an anti-bender revolt.

This show inspired me so much. Like it honestly changed me, I learned so many life lessons through this show, I will never forget it. The ending was bittersweet I mean I loved the way everything ended but the fact that it ended… sigh. I love this show.
And I love Aang, my favorite was always sweet Zuko, but I don’t know something about the goodness in Aangs heart had me bawling in the end.

and oh.about the movie, i was so disappointed b’cuz the episodes i was expecting is not in there,not even a little.they stick in the battle of the final episode of book 1.and if you’re not an avatar fan and u don’t watch the series of this cartoon, i assure you’ll never understand the movie. lots of difference compare to the cartoon.i find the movie an epic fail.(sorry for that)they ruined it. but i do like how they made it just like real.and i was really confused about the characters,in the movie,aang is not playful and not funny at all.and the firelord was there already!? and why the firebenders really need some fire on there side to bend it? i thought firebenders can make their own fire? and why katara’s not even a waterbending master yet? lots of questions in my head in that movie. they must change the director.and i hope the book2 will be better than this movie.and so does the book 3!
i’m so sad that the legend of aang is now officially over.they are now making the new legend. i wish they continue the legend of aang because many of us will ask so many questions like what happened to zuko’s mother?and what happened to aang and katara’s love story?i really want to see the new avatar world after they defeated the firelord.and how strong the avatar’s love is:)

@Desiree thats not true. because there cannot be another avatar until aang is dead. Unless it’s another 100 years later and the avatar’s kid is 80-90 years of age teaching a 10 year old airbending. But, that would be a shitty story line. nothing worse then a 10 year old acting trying to be badass.

Minus the said bit about Zuko’s mother, I thought it an overall, pretty clean wrap-up.
And now for a few points.
1) To the Zutara fans: poor Mai! Don’t put the grumpy girl on suicide watch! That scene after the Katara/Azula showdown is all you’re getting from the writers; I recommend you to deviantart.
2) I wuff Aang. A big bear hug from me. *squeeze*
3) I’m glad that they’ve stopped here. Quit while you’re ahead is a good line to live by. Though, I do hope they make a movie!
4) When I say movie, I do not mean the one hitting the big screen as we speak. AtLA is a cartoon. This cartoon, in particular, was NOT meant to be portrayed by live actors. Besides, you cant perfect perfection! I for one shall not be seeing the live people version, for fear it may tarnish my big shiny opinion of AtLA.
Besides. I like my couch.

Wow, i just finished watching all of the episodes.. and this is without a doubt one of the best things i’ve ever seen… not just the final episode which was great, the entire show was great, the fight scenes, just everything i thought it would have been more of a childish show, but wow i was wrong.. it was just all good, and sokka was hilarious throughout

it would be awesome if they did , because avatar is truly epic. i mean i know they made a movie , but that cant match up to the cartoon version – they cant get the humour and actions in the real life movie like in the cartoon episodes.

avatar is one of the best, if not the best, anime I have ever seen, but now that it’s ended I feel like something is missing.
apart from zuko’s mother and sokka’s sword, for example, how will they restore airbenders? and maybe something about some sort of opposition against unification would be interesting for another season

Avatar: The Last Airbender… what a series! Best anime ever, so much emotion… I admit, Book 4 Air would be good as a sort of wrap up season but they won’t do one, besides, we’ve got Legend of Korra to look forward too! I absolutely adore the end, everyone’s happy, the Fire Nation has been restored as a peaceful nation, the world is being rebuilt, Zuko is completely good now and will bring peace to the Fire Nation, and Aang’s love for Katara is realised!!
Couldn’t ask for a better ending, but, even so, I still feel like I’ve lost something inside. But then, this can’t go on forever, and it’ll be here on DigAvatar for a long time!!

this is just an idea but i thought saying that all the air nomads are dead (accept aang) i thought it would be a good idea to bring back a lost group of air nomads or this may seem weird to alot of people, but zukos mother to end up as an air bender, this is just an idea

Book Four, which as we correctly say would have to be Air, wouldn’t really work. The books were done in a specific order: the order of Aang’s mastery of the elements.
As of Book One Aang has Airbending down pat, so it doesn’t seem very fitting with the rest of the Books’ overall plots for an Air Book to be released. And besides, even if another book came out, surely we have two options: one, it will be insanely awesome, like the rest of the show, and once that one’s over we’ll be pestering the writers for more material once again. Or two, it will be hugely disappointing, because the AtLA team were forced into another season, when in several interviews Mike and Brian have admitted to ending the story of Avatar Aang exactly where they planned too.
Yes, check anywhere you like, but an AtLA spinoff miniseries called Avatar: The Legend of Korra WILL BE AIRED IN 2011. It’s supposed to be set 70-75 years after… Well, this is the last episode. 70-75 years after now. Korra is a waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe (next in the reincarnation cycle), and has already mastered Waterbending, Earthbending and Firebending. Yes, she ends up learning Airbending from Katara and Aang’s son, Tenzin. The rumored overall plot is set in and around Republic City (Star Wars-y, much?), a haven for all forms of benders, where she must put down an anti-bender rebellion.
This makes be sad. Aang dies. But, according to the concept art released, Korra is about, I dunno, aged 20-30? This means Aang died pretty young… perhaps Katara may still be alive*, at least. I bet she’d be pretty dang depressed though.
And on that cheery note, it’s time for me to end this incessantly long comment.

Just a little LEGEND OF KORRA info to satify your hungry minds……
Korra is blah blah blah The new Avatar and her nationality is The Southern Water Tribe, and it is quite possible that she is sokka and Suki’s great grandaughter. The name Korra has greek and Irish orgin and means “From the valley” in Irish(Don’cha know?) and is pronounced in the celtic way CORE-A, not CORR-A. She has already mastered water, earth and fire bending, but just needs to learn airbending(Sadly meaning there will probably only be one series:{)and venturesto Republic City in search of Tenzin, the last current airbender, who is also the son of Aang and Katara meaning KATAANG WON FOR ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry. Tenzin is about 72, and Korra is roughly 18/19, ruling out any chance of a romantic relationship. As of yet, it is unknown if Korra has an animal guide like Appa or Fang, but if she does, it will most likley be a Poler-dog. the series airs(GET IT? AIR?) in 2011….SO GET EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW avatar is the best thing in the world i have watched every episode about 100 times its sooo coooool there are actualy people who trained for years in the arts of the elements and how to control them like me i am in the middle of mastering the arts of water bending so far i can move water across the room and even pull water out of the air im upto creating a giant wave so i hope it goes well and just to let you know there is no such thing as blood bending its a violation of nature not to mention its impossible too master there is people who trained for 30 years and cant even make a persons finger twitch. Awesome last four episodes! Brilliant! Who would ever thought of ridding firebending from the Fire Lord? Now, everyone is happy. Epic battle, btw.
Loved how Aang and Katara ended together. So cute! Best ending. Though I would have loved to know what happened to Zuko’s mother.
I think Avatar TLA is one of the best animated series out there!

They could have done so much with the series. One of my biggest regrets was not being able to finish this anime. Time to scratch that off my bucket list.
Really though, i have a bunch of ideas that would make the story clearer and the longer. That way they could make more money and people can fill up nicely on all the avatar love. With my ideas the series could have lasted at least 150-175 episodes without too many unneeded fillers.
For filler flamers: they are needed, maybe not like in naruto with 100 episodes worth of fillers that only deteriorate the character’s worth. Fillers give people a chance to truly enjoy the show and create a gap for people to be able to miss some episodes without being totally lost.
The realistic movie wasn’t as good as it could have been. Changing the story is nearly suicidal for a director. I understand why he did what he did, but the true fans would trash the movie into oblivion. one crack can break a dam.

Anyways, I did a search on wikipedia and guess what!?
Aang and Katara did get married and had a boy( air bending master) called Tenzin.
The next Avatar after Aang is a water-bender from the Southern water tribe like Sokka and Katara. Her name is Korra.So the next series is,…Avatar: The legend of Korra. I’d rather Aang though, too bad we never saw Zuko reuniting with his mother.That was what all the fans were waiting for!
Aang is Korra’s AVATAR guide like Roku. The story is: Korra has mastered Water,Earth and Fire bending but has not mastered Air bending as the Air nomads were X_X during the 100 year old war (this series) so she go find Master Tenzin (Aang and Katara’s son)

hey night that’s a pretty amazing story you got there you should maybe make a book instead, whose to say you can’t start your own anime script series ^___^
I just got back into this show after only seeing bits and pieces a few years back, and i must say thanks to the site admins for putting this content up and i was able to watch it all and maybe relive some childhood anime
I am also surprised at the number of women who like this show, but there is a strong female influence so it makes sense. As many fans have said its something about the jokes/emotion and storyline which make it as epic as perhaps lord of the rings.
I was shocked that a childrens tv show could deliver such a dynamic and interesting plot/character development and protagonist/antagonist well done
w/e rumours there are about a 4th season i hope its as good as the original and sticks to the old one. I used to like the beyblade show but found it pretty bad after they eliminated the blade breakers lol
Once again well done and for those who say its for kids, I’m a 21 year old scholar and i still found this quite funny and enjoyable

It was the one anime that I was thrilled to find out actually had a good plot line.
I have to admit at the start I thought it was just a typical kids cartoon, but man was I wrong.
I first saw it overseas and only saw bits of it, so it never made sense even when everyone tried explaining it to me.
Man! This show actually made me belive that anime cartoons could have substance and quality again.
THIS is how anime should be. SHOULD be. I swear some writers seem like there on something chronic.
It had excellent action sequences, humor, romance and enough character development to keep it going!
God this show is epic.
M.Night Shaman is not going to be able to compare to this even with good digital effects. There’s not enough time in a movie.
If they split up the live action movie into ”book’s” like the series then maybe it would be better. But ergh.

AWWWW!!! That was a beautiful series!!! I cant believe I never saw it as a kid! Man did I miss out! But thanks to this website I got to watch the whole thing! Many thanks to the people who created this website! This is truly a great childrens animated show, they really dont make children’s shows/movies as good and as deep as they use to.
I watched the movie before I saw the episodes (I saw one two years ago and Loved it but had no idea what it was called) and I have to say that I now understand why people were so upset. Personally I still like the movie because I know that the majority of the time they never make the movie even close to as good as the original work. And because if it weren’t for the movie I wouldn’t have gone looking for the tv show to figure out what would happen with as much determination.

AAng isn’t too young for Katara: according to the creators they were both 12 at the start (‘Boy in the Iceberg’) if you exclude the 100 years Aang spent frozen, and they said that Sokka was 16.

Everyone looks at the three books so far and sees the pattern as being the order in which Aang learns the elements. There is however more to it than that. Aang learns the four elements in the order of the Avatar Cycle, the three books so far go in that order because that is the ‘correct’ path for him to take – following the cycle. This is why a fourth Book air isn’t actually brekaing the cycle, it is extending it to where the cycle comes full circle and if they did make a book 4 ‘Air’ it would have to focus on the rebuilding and restoring of the Air nomads, as well as the whole world. Aang needs to find someone to teach airbending to, so that the next avatar after him may learn it. This is possible, as there is at least one air nomad survivor – Guru Pathik. He said “I was a spiritual brother of your people” which makes him an air nomad, although not a bender.
Then of course there is the wonderful Zuko’s mother storyline where he can quest to find her again, and since the voice actor of Iroh died, they would probably have to have him die too =( (elaborate funeral, lots of emotions etc) and would be very telling for Zuko.
Plus there would no doubt be unification opposition, they have to convince a very stubborn earth kingdom of the trustworthiness of the firenation as a whole after 100 years of war, and what is to become of the doctrinated Fire nation Army/Navy? all fascinating questions, which a book four could well and truly answer, if they made it. But the point is that it is well and truly possible. =D

You made a great statement on the post for the last part of Sozins comet, which makes some great points, yet I would point out some flaws/differences in opinion and interpretation so you can understand where I, and many others (kataang supporters, or just people who watch the show) are coming from. Here I must Disagree, as I believe Aang suffered a loss as much if not greater than both Katara and Zuko, and his decision not to hate allows him to be the best source of understnading and help for Katara with her struggle. He overcame the same loss and hurt, and replaced it with his love for her, as show in the epsiode ‘The Guru’. To question whether or not Aang relied on the love of his people alone is silly, he didn’t just lose the person he loved the most (his parent figure, Gyatso) He lost everyone. The fact that he was able to find a new family in Sokka and Katara is remarkable enough, and his experiences are by far a better toolf for him to comfort Katara, not only comfort her, but help her heal, and not just fuel her hatred like Zuko would.

“When Mai saves Zoku and says to Ozulia…. “you miscalculated, I love Zoku, more than I fear you”, this shows her love for him but think about it…. the line could be given from any female character and still represent, the amence amount of love for him and if Katara said it, it would have the same amount of Dramatic affect that it had when Mai said it.”
This is really a moot point as Mai said it not Katara, what if’s are pointless… Mai saved Zuko and proved that she loved him, Katara and Aang have each gone to any length to save each other, with no regard for their own well being, is this not love?
And then this bit:
“The thing that Katara needs to learn is that, in the time that she has spent caring for others she hasn’t noticed that what she truly needs is someone to care for her. Aang is not that type of person, not the one to focus only on the needs of one alone to focus on the inside first but the outside, he cares for all that are in need but it seams that he can not stir the inside as much, he doesn’t have the experience that other have in the problems face, Aang in total, is not a fatherly figure. He duty is to be more of a god rather that father. Zoku however shows love to people in need of guidance. He has changed all of Aang, Sokka, and Katara threw his way of taming the beast inside all. He has helped them achieve what they need; he has given them wisdom and understood the task that each member must accomplish, and in the end informed them of the meanings, and given them the results that had changed each of them forever. Zoku clearly has Fatherly guidance that could help Katara and Katara has Motherly guidance that could help him, but this couldn’t be given to each other threw friendship… only threw love.”
Yet I’d like to point out that Katara chooses against killing the man in revenge as suggested by Zuko, so I believe Aang did more to ‘tame the beast’ there than him, and when it came to Zuko trying to teach Aang Firebending he couldn’t because of his anger issues/lack of, and it was only with Aang that he could learn the true firebending from the Dragons. And as far as Aang as a god-like figure, that is only the way some people percieve him, but the creators never for once show any of his frineds treating him reverentially, and as far as a ‘fatherly’ figure goes, he cares for each and every member of his gang as family, because unlike Zuko, or indeed any of them, they are the ONLY family he has. So I find that he is a perfect figure to love any of them, Katara especially, in that sense.

I find that there is very little that indicates the exact depth of what Katara feels for Aang. I respect that it might feel more like a Mother/Sister relationship to you, but obviously the creators felt that it was more. From the way they wrote the growing relationship from the touching scene where Aang first opens his eyes, to ‘The cave of two lovers’, to the moment she hugs him in the avatar state, to that dance they did in ‘The Headband’ and finally the beautiful end to series where they kiss in Ba Sing Se, I felt the growing feelings too, and it felt right to me.
As I said, this is only my point of you, my take on the same things you watched and waht I drew out of it. I just wanted to share my understanding with you on the same points where you shared yours. I respect your opinion and do not think that your ideas are wrong, just different, and they follow a different course the show could have taken, but did not.

you know how every one wanted more at the end of this series and how short it was. well if in the legend of korra she must only master one more element i dont know how they would be able to carry it out for more than one season.i am very nervous for the legend of korra i have the feeling that nothing but aang and the crew will do for fans of avatar.so i wouldnt get my hopes up it might and probably will be a big disapiontment.

Everyone there IS going to be a season 4 in novembe 2011 but its going to be about Korra. The new water bending lady avatar. But the thing is for Korra to be the avatar Aang has to be dead. RIP Aang. At least Korra’s air bending teacher is going to be Aang and Katara’s son! And we never know! Aang can talk to his past lives so maybe Korra can talk to Aang then at least he’ll be in the series! And i think their going to make Aang and Katara’s son have like flash backs of him growing up and learning air bending from his dad. And I’m not sure but i think theres going to be a whole big thing when Korra finds out that Aang and Katara’s son is the son of the past avatar!

im sooo sad that its over!!! i really wish that they made a 4th book because they kinda left some things unanswered and because there are 4 elements so there should be four books…yeah that kind of stuff bothers me
the movie was really awful. i mean if they’re going to make a movie of a really awesome tv series they should at least make it okay.
there’s going to be a new miniseries called avatar: the lengend of korra that will be about a new avatar, a waterbender named korra. the miniseries will be set around 70 years after this one. in it, korra has already mastered waterbending, firebending, and earthbending, but she must learn airbending from aang and katara’s son tenzin. also, it is set in only one place, republic city, where there are many anti-bender revolts.
it will only be 12ish episodes long

I want more Air Bison back! If somehow a female Bison suddenly appears…that would be EPIC. (those little baby bisons are adorable, and yes, I’m a guy) The Air Nomads’ civilization was always awesome, and it would be neat if they came back somehow, too. I hope both of these happen in the Legend of Korra.

Aww, it’s done. But I’m glad they stopped there, it would just ruin the show if they made book 4. I wished they explained where Zuko’s mum was.
Awesome ending-I can’t actually decide who I think Katara should be with, at first I thought she was great with Zuko but I think he’s better with Mai. All I know is that Katara shouldn’t be with Aang. She’s more of a mum or a big sister to him and it was just wrong for them to be kissing.
I loved Sokka because he made me laugh from the beginning to the end. I always felt sorry for him because the world kind of granted him a lot of bad luck. But I love him =)
I love Iroh, he such a nice man and is always so wise and he’s been through many experiences to get where he is.
I love Aang because he’s so sweet and has the nicest personality ever. He just cheers you up.
I love Zuko (This is kinda self explanatory) He’s so hot-litterally. Him being so determined throughout the show was amazing.
I love Appa and momo, as king Bumi said “There’s someone very important missing from your group…where’s Momo?!”
I love Toph She has awesome bending skills, she can bend metal, sand and earth I think the only person that’s a better earth bender than her is King Bumi, who I love also. And she’s so pretty. =)
I love Azula. She was so evil and insane but wow was she an amazing character.
I liked Katara. She was amazing at first and so strong willed, my favourite episode of hers was the bloodbending one and the southern raiders. But nearer to the end she became a little irritating. Though her fight with Azula was awesome.
And not forgetting the cabbage guy of course, I love him too. =)
Man, am I going to miss the show. The film completely ruined it, everything about it was wrong I just hope “Korra” will live up to this one.

as you saw in this episode aang took firelord ozi’s bending away from him so if he can do that dont you think that he could give young kids who dont have an element to bend that want that id if the want the element of air and to carry on the tradition of the monks the air bending element
and as for zukos mother i do not think that ozi is going to tell zuko were she is after all zuko did imprison him but i reckon that aang will be able to find her or that crazy women with the mole think that can smell anythink aslong as zuko have something from when he was a kid of her scent on it
oh yeah i have heard rumors of zuko and toph not being in the second movie i am wondering is this true because that is more or less the whole point of book 2 but anywaysthe films are good so far and cant wait for the next to come out

And about Zuko finding his mom, does it really matter that much? The guy gets enough screen time as it is rofl.
Azula is awesome. She had a bit of a Joker grin going on there. XD Kinda sad she went up the wall, buuut it was inevitable. Just like Katara and Aang. Bit of a maturity gap there if you ask me… But, it’s canon now, nothing to be done about it. Oh well.
They should leave the series as it is, I mean is it really that hard to guess what happens next? XD (Hint: world peace)
On another note, how can no one have mentioned light bending?

Well!the ending was really very nice.It was so good to see aang back into his avatar state and thrash firelord ozai.The ending could have been better if they had shown what happened to zuko’s mom.
So finally!Avatar was successfull in restoring back the balance in the world,General Iroh gets back his tea shop in Ba Sing Se ti play his pie show everyday,Azulah turns insane,Firelord Ozai loses his firebending and the four nations(in fact three because aang was the only airbender but at the same time ,he was also the avatar,so no airbender) unite and step together into a happy and a prosperos future.
I have heard that the next Avatar series is “Avatar-The Legend Of Korra” in which Korra is the next avatar after aang and learns airbending from Tenzin, the son of Aang and Katara.
Well! I am eagerly waiting for this series also. I am thankful to Digavatar to maka an Avatar shrine. AVATAR ROOOOCCCCKSSSS!

I think zuko’s mom is dead. well she should be since in one of the episodes (where she disappears), zuko’s grandfather says zuko’s father will have to be punished for suggesting that iroh step down from the throne line. And then azula suggests the punishment is to sacrifice ozai’s own son (zuko) just like iroh lost his. And then that same day in the middle of the night, the mother visits zuko and tells him that “everything she does is for him” and then leaves. so i assume she was sacrificed in the fire in place of zuko.

The storyline is just amazing, these directors are so imaginative. It’s emotional, fantastic!
It’s inspiring really, what Zuko’s been through. Yeah, Aang’s been through some rough times…But we all know that Zuko’s the real hero here.

I’ve had a few ideas, similar to Ians…
They discover a new kingdom, which has been secret for hundreds and thousands of years. It’s full of Air Nomads, just like Aang. They talk to the leader, Monk Bonzo ( or whatever ) and when he finds out who Aang is, they are greeted as honoured guests. They stay for a while, Appa playing with other sky bison, and everyone is happy. Then Ozai, somehow, escapes from his prison and sets Azula free, they want revenge on the world, especially Aang and Zuko! They sneak out dressed in the guards clothes and they find a cave to live in till they work out a plan and how they’re going to rid the world of Aang and Zuko. But when they work out a plan and they are successful, Azula double-crosses her father so she can get more power than ever before!

Nickelodeon has just greenlit a new animated series from Avatar: the Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. According to the network’s president, Brown Johnson, the series– currently titled The Legend of Korra– will be expanding the mythology of the Avatar franchise, setting it roughly 70 years after the original show’s events with a whole new cast of characters.
“Mike and Bryan have imagined a compelling new story inspired by the Airbender mythology that they so brilliantly crafted when the TV series began,” Johnson said. “This new avatar is not only a girl, but also hot-headed, independent and ready to take on the world.”

The Legend of Korra
The Legend of Korra follows the adventures of a “passionate, rebellious and fearless” teenager from the Southern Water Tribe, a girl named Korra. Having already mastered three of the four elements (Earth, Water, and Fire), she seeks to master the final element of Air. Her travels eventually lead her to the metropolis of Republic City, an epicenter for the modern Avatar world. Very nice idea about the fifth kingdom being air nomads! And, Ozai and Azula escaping, think of that, Azula double-crossing Ozai for power. Mind you, it’s not really her fault is it, her father taught her that the only thing that really matters is power. Poor Azula, she must be so confused.
So glad that Zuko survived and became Firelord. The storyline is just amazing, like you said! Very creative and imaginary! In my opinion, it is easily the best anime ever!

I have an idea for the next series which they are making, Legend Of Korra where Aang and Katara’s daughter is the Avatar.
They discover a fifth kingdom full of Air Nomad’s just like Aang, which has been hidden for hundreds and thousands of years! They fly to the land on Appa, they meet the leader, Monk Bonzo. They are greeted as honoured guests and have a feast with the Air Nomad’s noble leader. But meanwhile, Ozai has escaped from prison and is planning to set Azula free! For he wants revenge on the world, especially Aang and Zuko! When he has, they plot an evil plan, attempting to destroy the world and all is that in it! Azula is more crazy than ever! And the world is in terrible danger once again! It is up to Aang to save the world from the twisted souls of Ozai and Azula!

I just love the Kataang story! How Aang likes Katara but she totally doesn’t know, and he finally expresses his feelings for her at the invasion (luv that episode!). And Katara is kind of confused, because she loves Aang but she doesn’t know what to do if her heart gets broken if he doesn’t come back. But she finally realizes that she loves him.
Just priceless.

It was just as awesome as the first though. I love all the characters, especially Zuko, Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Iroh..
and Momo and Appa, ofcourse… well thats pretty much all of them… hehe!!

It drives me crazy it never shows a reunion between Zuko and his mother though! I’d like to know why she didn’t come looking for him when he was banished as well, when the whole world seemed to of heard about his banishment.
That the series ends only implying Zuko is going integrate his father everyday for the rest of his life until he tells him where she is.
I think the fans are owed a little more than just that. I know there is a new Avatar series coming out, but it takes place with whole new characters. I don’t know, maybe if enough fans submitted a request for a short epilogue/”commercial length” 5 minute written scene showing the reunion between Zuko and his mother, that’s not asking much from their budget and wouldn’t take long to produce– maybe they would agree to that. Or if they REALLY wanted to cheap about it, they could write the epilogue is manga/comic book form.

This was an absolutely astonishing show, I know it was intended for a younger audience, but this does not matter, it has content that everyone be they a child a teen or an adult can enjoy. I only just turned 18 so I guess I can kind of relate, but I’m sure even if your child/teen years are over this cartoon will make you feel like a kid on an adventure. It really is this good.
I especially liked Uncle Iroh, Even though Uncle Iroh is just a fictional character, his advice is some of the best I have ever heard and he is truly wise. the writers have brought us a masterpiece.

This the second time I have seen the series, its the best EVER! I really wanted to see the film. when i did, it was a total let down.
Suki was an earth bender (for some reason) and sokka wasn’t funny. also all the adventures were missed out and the story wasn’t the same
I’m looking forward to the new series as well, but for some reason i don’t think it could get much better. even if it did, i would still miss the characters.

I loved it but the last episode was kind of a let down after all the good episodes leading up to it but good non the less. I’ve always loved Avatar Roku for some reason I wish him and the rest of the past avatars would of came down and at least congratulated Aang at the end or something. Not really looking forward to the new season with all of them dead. Would of much rather seen Zuko fire lord and Aang avatar and problems they had to deal with afterwards but it probably wouldn’t even been that well anyway…all good things have to come to an end I do think the ended the series at the right time. I just wish they weren’t coming with a new one I just have a feeling it’s going to come nowhere near this one.

BTW the legend of Kottara will come out in 2012 mid (CANT WAIT THAT LONG) and Kottara will be a girl and she will be the next avatar, the avatar should be a boy, so she will have to be tought airbending from aanagns and kataras son. Still cant wait that long and it will be 70 years later with only abut 26 episodes. It better be good, why coudnt they keep the same year and that aang katara toth …. have to fight evel again, it better be good.

When I heard about Anti Benders, I was disappointed to hear that they were just people who don’t like benders. pfft.
*readers roll eyes, stating whether I have anyhting better to offer*
I DO. What if Anti Benders were actually descendants of people who spied out the energy bending technique, and adapted it to drain the bending chi out of other benders, and use these new bending powers for their own use temporarily? They would be pseudo-avatars… being able to take on the bending abilties of the other elements for an amount of time. These ANTI BENDERS are headed by some big bad guy who accumulates enough chi to challenge the Avatar. Then of course the avatar defeats him after an epic fight.

as part of his memory azula once told him he was going to be killed tomorrow.watch the episode to see why.then the next day zukos mom came and told him that no matter what happens shell always be there for him or something like that.so im guessing the mom told ozai to kill her instead of zuko

There making a new avatar series set I think about 70 years after the war and a little while after Aang’s death. It’s called The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra. As the cycle goes, the next person to be avatar after air is water, and so she was born in the water tribe. She has mastered earth and fire, but as Aang was the only airbender left, there numbers are expectedly small. Of Aang and Katara’s three children, the youngest, Tenzin is the only one to partake in the ways of the air nomads and so she has to find him somewhere in the new setting, the Republic City (I think that’s what its called). The Republic City is a city where all four (well three) nations live in harmony and are policed by a squadron of metal benders, led by Toph’s daughter, Bei Fong. There is also a group of energybenders, seeking to strip the world of it’s bending.

Avatar, is without a doubt the best anime ever.
Hoping that in Avatar: The Legend Of Korra they’ll tie up some of the loose ends, like Zuko’s mom.

This is one of the dirtest shows I’ve ever seen, just plain awesome.
But it was so disappointing that the best parts of the sozins comet chapters were in the most horrendous quality, like the avatar and ozai’s fight. It was getting me soooooooo cheesed!!!

I don’t understand Tai Lee. In the episode “The Beach,” she complains about how she didn’t get any attention because of her sisters that looked exactly like her. Omg ive read every comment on here it took me 2hours… Heres my thoughts on everything tho i doubt no one will see it since no ones commented since July.
CONTINUATIONS
I rly want book4 to happen even tho theres no chance. I think that it wud be cool to see the relationships change, and a new challenge for aang and the gang to face when theyre older. Aang hasnt even fully mastered everything plus hes still so young there shud be more. And i wud like to see how him and zuko work together to rebuild the world cuz after 100 years of war, it wud be HARD…
I dnt rly want another series like the korra stuff im not gonna watch cuz i think it’ll be tired and cheesy and the world is just not gonna be as magical as it was before. i watched the trailers and the city is so high tech and stupid like that much cud change after 70 years.
Other than another season, another cool thing i wud want to see is the story of the very first avatar and how he came to be that wud be so cool. And that wud answer more questions about the world that ATLA left behind about Avatars.
RELATIONSHIPS
I liked the Katara/Aang relationship (not gonna say Kataang cuz its weird). i didnt like how they waited till the last episode for them to hookup tho and it just seemed katara was wit him just becuz… there were a few hints of katara beginning to develop feelings for aang tho in like the headband when she was jealous aang was dancing wit that girl and how she was nervous when dancing wit aang. and also when they kissed during the invasion it looked like she liked it and was thinking about it afterwards.
I think zuko and katara CUD work, but i like aang and katara better cuz i like aang better. i think zuko and katara wud just be together based on the trials they both went thru with their mothers and had no other connection. and aang went thru worse his father figure and entire culture was destroyed, and he felt it was his fault, when katara and zuko put no blame on themselves.
I think sokka and suki is cool too, i expected it as soon as suki came into the picture tho, and i think zuko and mai will last forever tho theyre kind of a boring cuple and are unorthodox. And i think Toph shud hookup with Duke. that wud be funny. And the toph/sokka thing is stupid i heard some ppl saying that goodluck wit that…

Oh, I wished so bad that their world (with the whole bending stuff and etc.) was our world. It would be so fantastic!!
BTW, the new season should show how the world went after the war. If Zuko finds his mother, if the “Avatar team” is still together, if there are any other airbenders living in a secret flying temple beyond the sky or something like that. This is a great series and is one of the bests I’ve ever seen. I went so sad when it ended…
BTW again, it made me soooo happy that Aang did not kill the fire lord. Because of that, I think he’s the most powerful of Avatars. All of them told Aang to kill him, but he was strong enough for not doing it. Just love the finale, it was marvelous ^^
PS.: Katara should have used bloodbending on Azula, it was just what the show needed for being perfect <3

I have to say, the only disappointment for me is that Mai and Zuko got back together. He should really have stuck with Jin, but she’s such a minor character I guess that would have been too weird. At any rate, I actually like the cliffhanger involving Ursa, because that makes for interesting fanfiction opportunities.

I can’t believe I’ve never wanted to watch Avatar before. I always thought this is just like all the other animated series. Seems like I was wrong after all. (: The story was great! All the characters were great! The music and everything else were also great! My favorite characters were probably Zuko, Toph and Sokka. The series itself could’ve been ended better… Oh well. It was really nice to travel alongside with all of them although I feel a bit melancholic now that I finished all of the episodes.
