It is different when Aang is specifcally going in a fight with someone to kill that person. The other times they were fighting in self defense or to achieve some primary goal. Directly going after the firelord is a different type of killing.

i can truly understand wat aang is going through. from watching the shows he has never sought out to kill anyone. the times when he took ppl’s lives were while he was in the avatar state, and it was used as a defense measure and he didn’t like himself for what he did while in the avatar state.

Azula really is evil. I feel sorry for her. Aang didn’t actually KILL combustion man did he? I thought they knocked him out and he fell off a cliff. No, wait I remember now! Didn’t combustion man’s third eye backfire? And it wasn’t Aang specifically that killed him.
Also, when aang’s in the avatar state most of the time, he can’t control what he did. Remember how he was always confused when he came out of the avatar state?
This is different, because Aang feels that HE has to kill Ozai, because he knows that he’s the only one powerful enough, and his friends would only get hurt, but he’s grown up without ever killing someone, and he’s been taught that it’s the worst thing you could ever do EVER!
Wow, this is a really complex plot! I love it!

The Combustion Man guy killed himself when his attack backfired. The backfire was due to Sokka’s boomerang attack, but the actual attack that caused his demise was self inflicted, As for the the guy at the North Pole…Aang WAS the giant water fish thing, but I THINK it was partially made up of the ocean spirit as well. If you go back and watch it, Aang comes out of the Avatar state and I believe it’s actually the ocean spirit that kills the General. So, long answer short, no…Aang and his group haven’t killed anyone…well, except for Zuko maybe…oh, and Suki might have had to at some point.

They didn’t actually kill combustion man, he killed himself. They hit him in that wierd flame throwing third eye, then he tried to use it but it was all messed up so it backfired on him insted of throwing the flame to his apponents it just blew up in his face, causing the temple he was on to fall…….and commander jao, i dont think aang actually killed him, he was in the avatar state and around that time when he was in the avatar state he would loose control over his body, his past lives would act for him, it could have been anyone of his past live, but not aang………

Aang is a Buddhist monk. They’re not supposed to kill anyone or any living creature. Aang always refused to eat meat. Plus all the people have died b/c it was their own fault. Well, as for Aang killing, i believe the only thing was the bee insect when they were first hunting for Aapa in the desert. While he was in the Avatar state at the Northern water tribe, Aang (nor did the avatar state) kill Commander Zhou. He killed himself. Recall, Zuko standing on the bridge, arm outstretched to rescue Zhou, yet instead of taking his hand, Zhou allowed himself to drown. Since Aang is a monk, killing is never something that should be done intentionally. And if it is accidental, recompense is still a necessity. just my outlook on it.
As for the movie, it looks kinda lame, yet it seems as though it is only a movie version of everything that we have seen thus far. i wish they would come out with season 4: air. maybe it can touch on the rebirth of the airbenders, zuko finding his mom/aang finding out his past life is zuko’s mother’s grandfather, azula rebuilding the fire nation, or even firelord ozai getting his power back (similar to the end of one of the xmen when even after magneto was stripped of his mutation, he still manipulate metal slightly.) just my opinion lol

Lol. Admiral Zhou killed himself if I recall. Zuko attempted to assist him by pulling him out of the water, but zhou refused and let himself die instead of allowing Zuko to help him. Sokka unintentionally aided Combustion Man’s suicide by throwing his Boomerang which he angled perfectly and sucessfully hit his third eye. Combustion Man then tried to use his Fire-mind bending but it back fired and HE himself blew up, along with a large portion of the earth and rock he was on. All the was seen of him afterwards was his gauntlet.

If you noticed, He first went off with Aang to find ‘The Firebending Masters’ or ‘The Original Firebenders’ where together they found the ancient ruins of The Sun Warriors or w/e and learned the secret of fire and the dragons that still exist. Then he flew with Sokka to The Boiling Rock fire-nation prison to find his dad, where they successfully rescued his dad, his girlfriend, Sukki and a random prisoner. (Real funny episode btw) In the next episode (The Southern Raiders) he and Katara flew on Appa to find the current Southern Raider leader and gained knowledge of the whereabouts of the Fire Nation soldier that killed Kataras mother some years ago. Katara shows some real nice Water bending tricks and finally forgives Zuko.

i’ll give you the evidences that aang is INNOCENT!
about admiral zhao, he wasn’t killed by aang. it is the ocean spirit who killed him. plus, it was impossible. i didn’t see aang go attack and kill zhao. so it’s just the ocean spirit.
the bug from the dessert while they find appa. he didn’t kill it. he just slashed it with air so it will be unconscious to free momo. after that, it was shown that the bug was alive after all.
and the time he was in the avatar state in the 1st episode of book2, he didn’t kill them. it wasn’t shown that they died. they just got injured. but i’m not that sure that they all survived. but he didn’t willingly kill them. if they died, it was general fong’s fault.
no objections!

They did not actually kill combustion man, yes, Sokka may have thrown his boomerang and hit him in the third eye – but he didn’t kill him, the reason he died was because he was stupid enough to fire at the time, it backfired and he died. It was entirely his fault.
Also, the film was not as good as it could have been. I’m not saying you’re wrong, we’re all entitled to our opinions. But, they cut out a lot of great characters. Most of the actors didn’t fit their parts, the scenery and effects were decent.

Lots and lots of comments, donno if anyone has mention this but, of course they’ve killed people.
Firebenders at the war ballons, I’m sure when they’ve cut the ballons, Aang and Katara, the guys didn’t survive the fall.
And Aang at the day Zhao died, when he was in Avatar State, I’m sure some of the strikes that hit those ships MUST have killed at least a single person.
Don’t just think about the significant characters.
The ‘ants’ also count.
And there are more examples of it, I’m just lazy to point.
